Most phone numbers in Brazil are written in the following formats:
Prefix: long distance or international -------------------------------------- | Carrier or area code | -------------------- | | Subscriber number | | ----------------- v v v 0 AA SSSS SSSS - Local format +55 AA SSSS SSSS - International format
Most telephone numbers in Brazil have 10 digits and are written in the format of "AA SSSS SSSS". Here are some examples: 11 2847 6144; 21 2533 2218.
When dialing locally inside Brazil, the long distance prefix of "0" is required. So the format becomes "0 AA SSSS SSSS".
When dialing from outside of Brazil, the international dial-in prefix "+55" is required. So the format becomes "+55 AA SSSS SSSS".
When dialing from Brazil to other countries, the international dail-out prefix "+" or "00x" required.
